For families in Waynesburg

For families in Waynesburg, North Central West Virginia & Southwestern Pennsylvania: use the resources and practical steps in this guide to plan wanted nonmedical help. Confirm individual requirements and current availability with the responsible provider.

An ECHO cottage beside a family home involves more than finding room on the property. A prospective host and tenant need to understand the program-owned cottage, their separate agreements and the daily assistance that will still be required.

Request the current Greene County arrangement

Use the state ECHO information and SWPA inquiry route to ask what is currently possible. SWPA's December 2025 newsletter described its role as cottage owner and separate tenant and host arrangements. That dated explanation is useful background, not proof of a currently available cottage or unchanged contract terms.

Ask SWPA for the actual applicable terms before making property or financial commitments. Clarify the proposed tenant lease, host agreement, utility and maintenance responsibilities, inspections and any requirements the program identifies. Do not infer current costs, income limits or availability from the archived newsletter.

Keep housing and daily help separate

Ask the older adult what they want from the arrangement and how close-by living would affect privacy and family relationships. A nearby host is not automatically an around-the-clock caregiver. Discuss who is willing to supply each ordinary task and which assistance needs a separately arranged service.

Bring property, lease, insurance or authority questions to the program and qualified advisers. A conversation or application does not establish permission to install a cottage or an accepted tenancy.

Before relying on the move, confirm both the housing process and actual assistance. The cottage may change where someone lives; it does not by itself create a complete care arrangement.

Discuss ordinary help at home

For separately arranged nonmedical assistance, our Waynesburg care team can discuss the person's requested tasks and timing. Contact the local care team to ask about the actual scope, schedule and available staffing.
