For families in Ogden

For families in Ogden, Northern Wasatch: use the resources and practical steps in this guide to plan wanted nonmedical help. Confirm individual requirements and current availability with the responsible provider.

Check The RIDE's assistance limits, operating days and permitted journey before using it as the foundation of an Ogden care plan. The program described today is not the same as an unrestricted errand driver or an older five-day van-service description.

Weber Human Services currently arranges The RIDE through Lyft. Its page describes a curb-to-curb program for qualified older adults, requires independent curb access and a reliable cellphone, and limits trips to Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–3 p.m.

Ask whether the arrangement fits the rider

Discuss the real pickup and arrival tasks. Can the person get to the vehicle and from the destination curb under the program's conditions? Can they carry and use the required phone?

If either answer is uncertain, tell WHS before requesting a trip. Do not plan for the driver to supply hands-on assistance the service does not provide. Ask about the accessible-transport resources identified on the official page and the appropriate next inquiry.

The provider, not a family checklist, makes the qualification decision.

Check the purpose, place and day together

The current program prioritizes limited medical and grocery travel within Weber County. It should not be assumed to accommodate every stop on a private errand list.

Detail to checkWhy it changes the plan
Actual origin and destinationThe provider publishes county-related conditions
Medical or grocery purposeA grouped mail/pharmacy/social itinerary is not automatically accepted
Day and timeA Friday appointment does not fit the stated Monday–Thursday window
Return arrangementWHS asks for both legs to be scheduled

If an appointment falls outside those conditions, obtain a separate provider response about alternatives. Do not move a clinical appointment solely on the basis of a general article; discuss scheduling with the relevant office and confirm travel.

Fit home assistance around confirmed travel

A family member or separately agreed caregiver may be considered for ordinary preparation or return-home tasks. That agreement does not change The RIDE's rules or convert a Lyft journey into assisted transport.

Before relying on the day, record the confirmed travel arrangement, the home tasks and the person receiving updates. If there is no suitable ride, leave the travel entry unresolved rather than treating an inquiry as a booking.

For non-medical help at home, use the Ogden care page. Ask the team to review the location, duties and care window, and provide its staffing response and written estimate. Keep those commitments separate from WHS's response.
