For families in Fairmont

For families in Fairmont, North Central West Virginia & Southwestern Pennsylvania: use the resources and practical steps in this guide to plan wanted nonmedical help. Confirm individual requirements and current availability with the responsible provider.

An earlier appointment may require a one-day change in an ADW visit's start time. If the new timing becomes routine, it may need a formal plan update instead. Ask the responsible team which situation applies before asking the worker to simply arrive earlier.

State the date and the effect on the visit

Explain the actual appointment time, travel period and tasks affected. Ask the assigned agency and case manager what approval or documentation is needed for that day's adjustment under ADW policy. Be specific about whether the visit is shifted, shortened or otherwise affected; do not assume extra time is available.

In the Traditional model, the current manual requires the RN to approve scheduled-service changes in advance and then notify the case manager. Personal Options uses a different resource-consultant and Personal Attendant Log route; ask the assigned team which model applies rather than treating the consultant as a case manager.

Confirm the worker's actual availability through the agency. Permission for an adjustment does not create staffing, and a worker's willingness does not replace the responsible approval.

Recognize when the change has become permanent

If the same earlier start is needed regularly, tell the team rather than repeating informal exceptions. Ask about the appropriate plan and Personal Attendant Log update. The local service information can help identify an inquiry route, but the existing member's responsible team must confirm the applicable arrangement.

Keep the approved date, time and tasks where the member and agreed helpers can find them. If the appointment changes again, notify the agency before relying on the altered visit. The practical goal is a calendar that reflects both the authorized plan and the real worker assignment, with no hidden assumption that someone else will cover the difference.

Discuss ordinary help at home

For separately arranged nonmedical assistance, our Fairmont care team can discuss the person's requested tasks and timing. Contact the local care team to ask about the actual scope, schedule and available staffing.
